topic_02//Branded bike

For our next topic, we've come up with something a bit outside our usual 'sketch-a-supercar' mentality. Our next design challenge is to pick literally any brand (anything from Abarth to Nixon to Starbucks) and design a purpose-built bicycle based on that brand. Your concept could include the design language, materials & finishes, and really anything to do with the overall brand identity that you choose. Additionally, try and dream up some interesting ways to use new technologies and materials in innovative ways.

This idea was sparked by a recent E-bike design presented at Worthersee in Carinthia, Austria. It was designed by Audi but more specifically INDU902 alumni, Jason Battersby, who recently completed his masters in transportation design at UmeƄ Institute of Design in Sweden. If you haven't seen the bike, here are a few images of the concept (some great inspiration IMO):

Also, check out Jason's website @ http://www.jbdesign.ca/

Happy sketching!

High Tea

While not an exact fit to the theme of this blog, I thought you all might enjoy seeing this eyecatching display currently set up on Bloor St.  The F1 car is suspended above the table, with the entire weight being supported by a single tea cup at each of the wheels.

Cheers,

Baby Got Back

Hey all, thought i throw this up before I run away to Euro Cup in Poland. Hope to see some more posts when I get back. This is my first pencil sketch in a long time but i think it turned out alright. Purple Verithin on paper, then used some photoshop to really make the focus the back end. I also 'squashed' it a bit. Im liking the style, but I think ill end up trying a overlay to get some nicer wheels in there.

2015 Pony car

development

A bit of development on topic one.. had some of the same ideas as Nat, picking  up on a few of the Mustang's character traits and expanding on them.  I wanted to maintain that fastback rear end and develop an evolved language for the front end.

I like where I ended up with this one.. a lot more dynamic than the renderings I posted with the topic as I just tried to add some interest.

As for the rendering.. I'm a bit rusty with PS but I thought I would give it a go.  Let me know what you think in the comments!

2015 Mushtang *attempt

Was going for a softer look with a little switch up of key design elements. The main thing i wanted to do was push the rear window back for more of a fastbacky feel. I also thought the latest concept the Alex posted looked a little funny from the front so i switched that up a bit. Quickly tossed in some shading to add a little depth annnnd voila.

topic_01//2015 Mustang

With the recent speculations of Ford ditching retro-styling for the new mustang, there are many attempts at predicting what the 2015 model might look like.  Although it is possible that they might pull over some of the design language from the new Fusion which was unveiled this year in Detroit, I'm just not quite sure that is the best direction to take.

For the first topic, let's post some development of what each of us feels would be a better direction.  Feel free to call out certain details or write a short description on your post!
